In Sept my daughter had a rash all over her chest after a shower; ER said it was contact dermatitis. Few days later saw dr. for rash, vomiting and a low fever. She urinated a few times when she was unaware of need until it started. Urine culture showed Group B strep and put her on amoxicillin. After appts and tests, blood work 2x abdominal ultrasound and a barium upper G.I., (all negative), on 3rd bloodwork added Lyme test, it was positive (lower marker). Switched her from amox. to doxycicline. The next week she rec'd the nasal H1N1 vaccine and the next day had severe fever, back to doc. He said she had H1N1 and had been exposed pre- vaccine. She was put on tamiflu. Then she started fainting up to 20 x a day and we went to ER on a Friday night. At this point the cough from the flu was very severe. They kept her overnight and gave albuterol to help with the coughing.
The fainting continued so she had a 24 hr video EEG and saw pediatric neurologist. After 24 hrs and multiple episodes walking, in bed, etc. they determined that her brain and cardiac rhythms were all normal and diagnosed her with psychogenic fainting/seizures.
They have gotten better as she has gone back to school and we have tried to get back to normal. However they continue, once or twice at school, most of the times at home. I am not convinced that this is stress related, but agree that stress does not help.
When she was in the ER for fainting they did bloodwork (at end of doxy.) and Lyme test showed her level had lowered significantly.
She has been very healthy. She is 4’10” and 105lbs. She is in early stages of puberty. I also believe she has ADD.
She has started sleepwalking, waking up in my bed and not knowing how she got there. Last night she came into Living Room saying 'momma, momma,...' in monotone voice and when I said "What? Why are you out of bed" She 'woke' up and had no idea how she got there.
Any ideas or directions?
