Burning Feet

Hi,
For the last few years on and off I have had burning feet at night but for the last four months or so I have had it every night and it is starting to get very uncomfortable. It starts late afternoon and is at its worst in the evening.I dont wear shoes (only flip flops) cause its too hot and I dont do a lot of exercise nor am I overweight. I have just been putting them in cold water for some relief. I am pregnant at the moment but just to let you know this started before I was pregnant....Recently I went to the doctor to see what could be causing this and he gave me no answers, saying that sometimes restess leg syndrome can cause burning feet but I didnt have the symptoms. I know I dont have restless leg syndrome! He said to just keep putting them in cold water and that because I am pregnant I can not have any medication and that because its not keeping me awake or ruining my quality of life that it isn't something serious. I feel that because its been going on for so long and because its now happening every night, something has to be causing it. Its starting to get very uncomfortable! It maybe nothing but I feel like I need a second opinion. What do you think??

Dear Renee,
Many thanks for clarifying few more details.
Tingling of the hands and feet can be related to calcium deficiency. Moreover you may also have some pinched nerve. However i will not advice you to go for any sort of investigation as you are pregnant and presently we will manage this conservatively.
It has been commonly observed that few pre-maternal problems completely disappear off after the childbirth. So lets wait.
However if the problem still continues, then we can opt for nerve conduction velocity study. Please note that all this needs to be done, after the delivery.
Presently i would advice you to continue with the medications and Yoga.
Regards

Hi Doctor
As I said, This has been happening at its worst a month or so before I found out I was pregnant so I really dont think its related. I am taking elevit multi vitamin for pregnancy so it has Folic acid and all the B vitamins etc. For years I have had tingling hands and sometimes feet, I dont know if this is related? This also seems to start when its hot weather.

Dear Renee,
Burning sensation, we co-relate , in general, to diabetes/peripheral neuropathy. But in your case, its not at all relating. You maybe having an early pinched nerve. As you told that you are pregnant, so i hope, you have already started on Folic acid.I would advice you to start on Vit B12 also.
And , if not yet started, please start/continue doing the Yoga , as shown by the therapist (Expert guidance).
I hope , it will give you a lot of relief.
Please feel free to discuss/share more problems.
Regards.
