Loss of feeling on left side

A few months ago I began having chills on the right side of my body and would experience numbness and weakness on my right side.  However, most recently the chills lasted for three days straight and now  I currently have loss of feeling in my left leg. It began with excruciating pain in both legs that was so intense it woke me up  from sleep.  When I tried to get out of bed, I had no control of my legs.  At the hospital  I was unable to move my legs or feet. As time passed I became to have numbness in my face , left side, and both legs. After a day I was able to feel my right leg but it was extremely weak.  A few days later  I began to feel my face and arm.  The numbness in my left leg has continued.  The MRI was normal with the exception of white spots that I was told was due to a recent (3 months) car accident that I suffered head trauma from.  The blood work was normal and the doctor said that I will regain the feeling back. I was told that the neurological event was due to the headache that I had been experiencing on the crown of my head since my car accident.. Here is my question. Have you had any patients with similar symtoms and if so what was the diagnosis?

Dear Friend,
I have never got any patient of this type of case history as generally my patients have MRI findings co-relating with the diagnosis.
However, sometime it's to early to judge.
I would suggest you for a EMG / NCV to rule out nerve and muscle involvement.
If these 2 reports are fine, then we can be assured that there is no mechanical problem causing all these symptoms.
that time we will need to focus on increasing our Vit B12 levels along with Alpha lipoic acid levels.
Also would suggest you for a Repeat MRI of the brain after 4-6 months, as if the white spots progress, then we need to be cautious and rule out Multiple sclerosis/Transverse Myelitis or other form of inflamatory disorders.

Presently don't worry. However it these symptoms progress, do let me know as a new Post.
Regards

I just saw the neurologist and he ordered more  tests including another MRI. His feeling is that the neurologial event was due to a migrane that did  not have regular migrane symtoms such as headache. He started me on a migrane medicine because he is concerned that the nerological event could happen again.  I was diagnosed with MVP 18 years ago and the neorulogist stated that with MVP sometimes people also suffer from migranes.  Before my car accident I never suffered a headache in my life. It puzzles me to think that in 18 years of being diagnosed with MVP that I nevevered suffered this type of nueorlogical event before now.  any ideas??
