MRI, EEG and EKG were normal. The meds seem to be working. He had a small seizure this morning that appeared to be an absence seizure. He stared blankly for a few seconds, his head was shaking back and forth and his arms drew up, but he recovered quickly. If he has to have seizures I would prefer these over the terrible ones hes had for so long now.
Hi.
I'm sorry to learn what happened. Your son may be really be having a seizure disorder of unknown etiology. Most seizure disorders have indeed no identifiable cause, and they are just classified according to presentation, and the treatment is tailored according to these classifications as well.
Your son may have different kinds of seizures, but a thorough search for a cause should be sought (like EEG, MRI, etc). There are specific drugs effective for each type of seizure and I'm sure his neurologists are doing the best they could.
I hope and pray that he'll be OK. Regards.
