Aneurysm versus opacified branch vessel

Hello.  I go to my neurologist Monday, wanted a little back-up info if possible.  Have my MRI results that show a 1 mm vascular protrusion from the A2 segment of the right ACA.  They suggest a CTA to determine whether this is an aneurysm or partially opacified branch vessel.  I know what an aneurysm is (bad), what is a paritally opacified branch vessel?  Is this just an imaging flaw?  Also, if it is an aneurysm - is something of this size likely to end up never causing any problems?  I am a 40 year old non-smoker of healthy weight who never delved into any illegal drugs.  I smoked, but stopped 6 years ago.  Thank you!

Hi!
I can understand your worry. Blood vessels appear as opacifications and this is better visualized in CTA. So if it is a small blood vessel branch on CTA then it is a normal finding. An aneurysm of 1mm size is unlikely to cause any complications. Although, just knowing that you have an aneurysm can be a cause of worry for you! Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!
