Any other possibility than MS?

In the past 6 months or so I've experienced muscle twitching, occasional numbness (particularly while sleeping), muscle pain, brain fog (slow word recall and slurring of speech), balance trouble, and occasional and brief sensations of dizziness.  I've also experienced fatigue throughout the day and no amount of sleep seems to help.  I'm afraid of going to the doctor because although I've almost come to grips with the fact that I likely have MS, I'm worried about my parents knowing but before I make an appointment I was curious if the symptoms I'm exhibiting could be caused by anything other than Multiple Sclerosis (fibromyalgia, Lyme's disease, thyroid disorder, etc...).

I either do or have had experienced everything you listed. At one time, I too was convinced I had MS and was bracing myself for what lay ahead... I even joined the MS Forum here to learn all I could about it.

Firstly, let me say that this was several months ago and I was never diagnosed with MS. So, don't bank on it until you are officially diagnosed. One visit to the MS forum here will tell you that even if you have MS, there are certain criteria you must meet before you'll get the diagnosis. It's very frustrating for many. So much so that some celebrate when it's made official! Which is understandable if you are indeed on that path.

I still don't know today. I still have symptoms and keep searching. You have to have to have certain episodes and a positive MRI before it's made legit.

Thanks for sharing.
