Left Side Chest Pain

Recently over the past week or so i have been having chest pains just under my breast near my heart location on left side.. I am a smoker and have been for  a year or so. It happens after a cigarette and sometimes even when i havent had a cigareete for a few hours. I am really worried i might have some type of disease or problem. I have been to the doctors but they seem to think its just muscle pain in between my ribs where it may have been pulled. but its been going on for so long and even hurts at rest sometimes. im not to sure what it could be or what to do.

Thanks

i am 17 years old. and yes i had tried quitting its just so hard!
i have had a EKG done and had multiple examinations but everything seems normal. so im not to sure what it is. i havent had it over the past few days but had it on satruday quit painfully for about 10 minutes. i will work on not smoking for a week and see what happens...whether it is caused from smoking or whether i need more test done.
thanks guys!

You did not mention your age. Did you get an EKG and stress test? Any chest pain needs to be evaluated for cardiac. Since you have been smoking only a year it should be much easier to QUIT now!!

Sounds like you may be having variant angina (spasms of coronary artery) from smoking.

If that is the case, it's an easy fix. Stop smoking. ;-)

Smoking will eventually hurt your heart either way.
