Botox, does it work?

I have atypical facial pain and trigeminal neuropathy, The dull pain is constant and increases in intensity at times. There is also numbness in the chin area and intermittent generalised facial swelling on the affected side. All these symptoms have occurred following post operative trigeminal neuralgia following translabyrinth approach for large meningioma. Also have failed vestibular compensation so have abnormal gait, poor balance and often wobble all over the place.

My question is has anyone any experience or knowledge about the effectiveness or otherwise of Botox injections for this form of neuropathic disorder?Any other ideas about pain relief?
I take endep currently.

How long did the botox injections take for you to start to notice a change? I had a few injections two days ago for facial myoclonus and I have not felt a different.

Jolier, I will let you know if Botox helps in any way as I have facial pain as well. I have heard wonderful things about Botox helping with thesr kind of things. I researched it for about a year before I would give it a try.

I was wondering if you could describe the dull pain that you have been experiencing with your TN.  I haven't been diagnosed with this, but neuro says some type of neuralgia.  I have a dull aching feeling almost all the time between my eyebrows, and on the right side of my face, near the innder part of my eye.  No lightning bolt pain, just a deep, ache.  But, on the left side of my face, I get a bug crawling sensation the goes across the maxillary area of my face, this only lasts for a few seconds, then gone, but it has been happening everyday for 5 years now. I had a brain MRI w/ and w/o contrast last spring, everything was normal, except for a bad sinus infection.  Thanks, Jennifer
