Brain Lesions

My first symptoms were numbness in my right arm. After emergency room visit and multiple tests, a small lesion was found on the upper left side.(MRI) Small seizures followed in my right arm but are controlled by 1000 mg of Keppar. A lumbar puncture was preformed with all tests coming back negative or normal. All blood work was normal or negative. EEG results were normal. A month later another MRI showed lesion still there. A third MRI was preformed in November showing the original lesion almost gone but a new lesion showing up on the right. Mild headaches (Migraines) have been occuring but could be from strees or Keppra. General health is good at age 41. My main concern is cancer or ALS. What are some possible diagnosis and possible outcomes?

Im sorry if I've affected you this much by my opinion. It bothered me because someone kept telling me to get checked for it too, when it was something else I had wrong. Which had me worried sick for awhile. I guess Im just not over that, but I should never of blamed you. These boards are great and very informative. And I had no right to judge you or your knowledge.  Guess I had a bad moment. I do feel this is going a little to far now, and getting childish. I'm going to forget about this post and leave it at that. Hope you do the same.

BillyandSarah, thanks for defending me. Between, why does my suggesting Lyme bother you so? Where I live it is as common as the flu. MUCH more common than MS or TIA or dementia. Why wouldn't that be a possible diagnosis with consistent symptoms. I don't think I sound one bit like a doctor, but thanks for the compliment!

ISHELL CARBON, 35, and her husband, both vintage car aficionados, visited a
Danville home in the foothills last November to check out an automobile for sale.

But their young son and daughter, both now 8 and 12, were getting bored, so
Carbon wandered into a nearby field with them.

Little did she know that she would soon enter into among the most contentious
medical debates

Thanks :) I do know at least five people personally who tested negative here in Connecticut who were later diagnosed with it. Testing is a big problem because of the inaccuracy and people tend to think "well, my doctor said it was negative so therefore I don't have it". I just want people to pursue their instincts on this. My doctor initially flat out told me I did not have it. Wrong! It's not the answer for everyone, but it is definitely a real possibility.

I do agree that Lyme disease is a real thing. And it shouldn't be overlooked. But to constantly say lyme disease is beyond me. She could of had a tia, or ms or dementia or who knows whatever. But that wasn't brought up. You are not a doctor, so do not say your educating any of us.

No problem, jbladbrat.
I don't think you mentioned in your fist posting what the doctor's diagnosis based on the lesions found... or was he/she baffled with no explanation or no diagnosis.
I've been going through Ms/Lyme/ALS like-whatever symptoms for 4 months. Been to GP and Neurologist and tested negative on all neuro exams and no lesions on brain MRI.
MS/Lyme can be trickey to diagnose.  I have seen postings from
other who orginally didn't have lesions at the onset of their symp's but then years later they were diagnosed with MS.
MS can take years to be confirmed officially. I have seen others like your where the doctor's couldn't confirm what the lesions are.  Whatever you have, I hope you can get diagnosed soon so you can get treatment.  But I hope you don't have anything serious.  Also, I enourage you to go to the Neurology forum at the top, click on that and asked an MD what your further course of action should be.
Best of luck on your continued journey to get some solid answers.

Of course we are not doctors, but we have to be proactive and explore possiblities of what the problem is and continue to challenge the doctors. Yes, this is a forum where everyone should be able to express their concerns and vent. With all do respect to the medical professional world, there is still a lot of people afflicted with things for years with no diagnosis or a mis-diagnosis.  I, too, have been going through many symp's  with no diagnosis from my doctor and there are many postings by others in the same boat. IHatepvcs has been kind enough to me and everyone here in expressing her comments, and opinions based on her experience, she is in no way diagnosing people.

Someone a lil pissy today? She is just stating her opinoin on what it could be. You know the same that we all do on here. Is it hurting you that she says this? If you don't like it then don't read her posts...

Why stop about Lyme Disease? Perhaps it's rare where you live, but many people who visit this site live in Lyme endemic areas and are ignorant about the symptoms. I'm very lucky that I had someone recognize my odd symptoms as Lyme disease so that I pursue getting tested and treated. Lyme disease is a REAL problem!

Lyme Disease can cause numbness among many other symptoms and also can cause brain lesions similar to MS.
