Can IIH cause high blood pressure?

When I started when IIH, I had extremely low BP. Now my BP is 153/101, I am also so tired all the time with daily excruciating headaches that just don't seem to want to go away, mid day I can hardly keep my eyes open. I currently take Topamax 300mg. along with many different migraine meds. which do not work (told my Neuro. dr., but he gave them to me anyway, currently looking for a new Neuro). He wouldn't start me on Diamox due to the low BP at the time, and I have a history with passing out. I did call his office Friday about my BP has rising over the last couple of days and the headaches have been horrible and the meds were not working. He never returned my phone call, What a nice start to my weekend feeling like pooh. If anyone else has had anything like this I would greatly appriceiate whatever help I can get...

Thanks, Kelly

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. I did call the Neurologist on call and they directed me to go to the ER. They did get the headaches under control to the point where they were bearable.I do have a new referral to a new Neurologist, hopefully he will be able to address my problems better than my last doctor. Again thank you for helping me understand my medical issues.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
Idiopathic intracranial Hypertension manifests with headaches .Eye problems arise due to compression and traction of the cranial nerves, a group of nerves that arise from the brain stem and supply the face and neck. Most commonly, the sixth nerve is involved. This nerve supplies the muscles that pull the eye outward. That is the reason you are unable to keep the eyes open . IIH may not lead to high blood pressure but the raised blood pressure may be due to the stress because of headaches . Please consult another neurologist for the management of the symptoms . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
