Can a leg massage cause nerve damage

I had a pedicure a week ago which included massaging my calves.  The man was very rough with the massage and it caused me pain.  I asked him to stop.  Later that day, I still felt pain in my lower legs.  For the past two days my right hand middle finger (next to my index finger) has been tight and felt numb.  The right leg still has an intermittent pain. Should I be concerned?  Also there is a small soft knot on my left leg but it doesn't hurt and I don't know if it was already there prior to the massage.

Hi there.

The development of symptoms on your hand may be very hard to pin from the massage done to your calves no matter how traumatic that was unless you also had your arms massaged.  The pain that you are experiencing on the massaged areas can be due to some form of trauma that maybe caused by the rough massage and this should disappear in the next few days.  I suggest you have this evaluated by your doctor if the pain on the legs become persistent or if the numbness on your fingers persist.  Until then, avoid trauma as much as possible and stay safe.

Regards and God bless.
