Cervical Fusion

I had a cervical fusion done at 2 levels last year. It is about 13 months after the surgery and I still get sometimes severe pain in the back of my neck where the fusion was (C5-6 and C6-7). Every time I move my neck I can hear cracking and popping sounds, like bones grinding. I have had increased numbness in both hands but the EMG's showed carpel tunnel but I an skeptical. Should I at least get an xray to make sure the bones healed? The Dr that did the EMG said even if it did fail I did not have to worry because if the plates that were put in.

I had the same surgery two and a half years ago (C5-C7). They went through the front of my neck. I've been in constant pain since I had the surgery.  My neck also makes popping and cracking sounds.  I have terrible headaches every day. I have constant pain in my neck, shoulders, arms, and hands.  I have weakness in both hands.  I have never been able to return to work.  I've applied for Social Security Disability, but haven't heard anything yet. I'm in pain management, but the drugs just barely take the edge off.  A resent MRI shows that the disks above and below the fusion are buldging and will eventually require more surgery.  I'm also being treated for severe depression. I tried to remain hopeful that with time the pain would subside, but after two and a half years my doctor has even given up on me.

I never dreamed that I would end up like this at 46 years old. I'm sorry your having so much pain, I wish you the best.
