Hello.

The usual analgesics do not work. Gabapentine is a good medicine that has shown some consistent results. Reduction of stress levels is also shown to work. Thalamus is the center where all the sensory information comes. And it includes emotional aspects, too.

Some people benefit from stereotactic surgery (Thalamotomy).

The decision regarding the treatment options can be discussed with your Neurologist.

All the best.

Hello.

You are obviously disturbed.

I am not sure which website you referred for the thalamic stroke information. The picture is not at all gloomy.

In a retrospective study done in Mexico, they found that none of the thalamic patients dies. Some improved completely, some had little sequels. Only one patient developed thalamic dementia.

And thalamic stroke can occur in people as young as 16 years, that too, without any risk factors (like in your case).

If you are sure the diagnosis given by the doctors is thalamic stroke, then I would recommend that you start taking the appropriate treatment and think positive.

Regards
