Daughter has periodic paralysis in legs

My daugher is 19 years old and since June of this year, she has had issues with her legs causing pain and sometimes, her legs experience brief periods of paralysis where she can't move her legs.  This can last from 5 minutes to 2 hours.  I have taken her to 2 hospitals where they ran multiple tests including MRI, CT scan, ultrasound, x-rays, blood tests, EKG and so many other tests.  I have also taken her to a neurologist where they ran more blood tests.  She has also had a nerve connectivity test.  All of these tests have came back negative.  She has a few other issues such as anxiety, depression, and nightmares nightly.  She has been seeing a therapist for years.  She is taking Gabapetin everyday, 2x a day which helps to relieve the pain some.  She has pain in her legs all day with the occasional paralysis in her legs.  Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

You'd said elsewhere: "I can pop my upper back and shoulders all of the time".

Any indication of a 'connective tissue disorder' for you?

Is she hyperflexible?  (EDS)

Any family history (Fx) of severe allergies?

Hi, when standard medicine provides no benefit, we can try a Functional Medicine approach. Often, mystery medical conditions result from overactive immune systems going amok. Did she see a rheumatologist?

- What happened just before she got ill, if anything? A bad cold, physical trauma, chemical exposure, anything unusual.
- What health oddities has she had since childhood?
- What mystery family medical histories? Lupus, Sjogren's, Raynaud's, etc. I saw your back pain post.
- Severe lack of sleep can heighten systemic inflammation. What are her CRP, hsCRP, and ESR test results?

- Nutritional deficiencies can produce neurological symptoms. E.g., very low vit B1 creates Wernicke Syndrome. Has she had anorexia, lots of vomiting or an extreme diet like vegan or carnivore?

- Test her for cortisol. Hypercortisolism (Cushing's) from stress can create similar symptoms. Or Cushing's can be from a **benign** tumor that causes excess cortisol secretion.

- For her individually, I'd forget the specialists and see a good Functional Medicine Internist.

- From what I've seen, people with hyperactive immune systems tend to have anxiety. Females tend to immune dysfunction, and being young and fit does not prevent that.

- Does she have skin flushing? Had a tick bite and/or live in Lyme country? Had a bad 'summer flu'? Foreign travel?
