Dizziness while driving

I am 50 yrs old and just recently I experienced light headness while driving on the freeway. At first it was brief,3-5 seconds and went away.  It came out of no where.  Then it happened a second time, and I felt like I might pass out, so I got off the freeway.  I started feeling like I was driving in a foggy feeling ( mostly on the left eye ).  It continues to get worse, and the now I get numbness on the left side of my face.  Recently I experience my first panic attack.  I know it is due to the fear of driving and thinking I will pass out.  I went to the doctor and he gave me medication for the axiety, but I still have the light headness while driving.  I don't have this problem outside the car. However, I do get headaches on the left side of head.  I am concerned since it is progessively getting worse.  Unfortunately for me, I was recently laid off of my job and no longer have health insurance.  Any suggestions.  The only medication that I was on was Hormone replacement, which was recently change, and I did stop taking it for the time being.

Thank you.

I thought doctors were supposed to comment on this or provide some insight.   I'm 49, otherwise very healthy, work-out regularly, etc.   I take synthroid as well, but have for years with no problems.   Just started getting weird dizzy/falling asleep/hypnotic type of sensation that I'm aware of but can't shake while driving.   Happens on long drives and on very brief ones.   Any doctors out there have any thoughts?   Thanks.

I am now 40 and this started happening to me about 5 or 6 years ago.  We live near waterways, bays and oceans, therefore their are lots of bridges and tunnels.  On land I am fine, but get me behind the wheel in the morning to work and boom, I start feeling funny like some anexity and chemicals were release from my brain.  I drive over a bridge and thru a tunnel to work everyday, as a major struggle.  In some cases, I have to pulled off in the walmart parking lot to regain my thoughts and calm my self down and then continue on.  Breathing seem to be and issue also during these condtions.

One of the doctors that I have seen was an internist, he gave me some lexapro seemed to help a little but after a while had no effect on me. I have been thru stress test, sugar test, blood test and others, and all were normal.

So, have you got any tips on improving these conditions, exercise ??  relaxing more ?? presc drugs ??

What have you done to get around this or make it better??  Have you see a nero doctor ??  I haven't yet, just wondering.

Its definitely a brain thing, Im just not sure how to resolve or fix it.
