Dorsal Column Stimulator

My wife 43 yrs old has suffered from chronic headache since she was about 13yrs old, last year in July they implanted a Dorsal Column Stimulator, now its been about 8 months, she winged herself off all the meds she was on within 2 months of the implant, it was doing great. Now out of the blue starts showing signs of BI-polar and is currently in a mental health center, with no prior history. The Doctors here in Oklahoma that did the surgery stated that the DCS has no bearing or anything to do with this, My ? is there enough onto to grantee the are right?

No she has had no family history and never had any signs of this before. she is home now and the mental health center put her on some meds to treat it as a BP disorder.
She is doing better but we are still waiting to see how she comes out of this.

Hello.

Spinal cord stimulator can not lead to bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder has a genetic predisposition. It is caused by chemical / neurotransmitter imbalance in the brain.

Is this her first such episode? Does she have a family history if bipolar disorder?
