Electrical shocks

I have been experiencing sensations of electrical shocks all over my body.  It started with a mild neuropathy in my right foot and seems to now be affecting my whole body. I have been to a neurologist and had an EMG, but still have now conclusion to what is causing this. My neurologist has me on 800 mg of Gabapentin per day to help with the tingling and burning sensations, which helps some, but not a lot.

Thank you so much for your response.  I am on Gabapentin for the neuropathy, Prilosec for reflux and Fenofibrate for high cholesterol. If I stop taking one of these to see if it is causing the side effects, how long before I would notice an improvement?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your medical problems. Electric current like feeling can be due to side effects of certain medications. So if you are on any drug, ask your doctor and stop this drug and see if it helps. It can also be due to fibromyalgia, electrolyte imbalance, hormonal imbalance, Vit D or Vit B12 deficiency or peripheral neuropathy of diabetes and hypothyroidism. A pinched nerve can also be the cause. Lyme’s disease is another possibility. You need investigations to rule out the above mentioned possibilities. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
