Adolescent Syncope/Near Syncope

My daughter, 13 years old, recently started having the feelings of dizziness, severe headache at the back of her head, and has actually fainted at least twice.  She was born with a birth defect on her head.  She had deep scar tissue on top of her head at birth; her sister was born without skin, bone, or anything on top of her head.  Both had extensive reconstructive surgery; no neurological abnormalities were noted at the time of birth.  My 13 year old is taking allergy treatments at this time. She also started her menstrual cycle about a year ago.
Her doctor had her wear a heart monitor for 1 day with no abnormalities noted.  She had an EEG done an abnormalities were noted on that.  We have taken her to a Pediactric Neuro doctor who basically prescribed medicine for the episodes and prescribed a wait and see course of action.

Should we be getting more aggressive in trying to find out what is going on?  Don't know what to do.

My son has just been diagnoised with neurocardiogenic syncope after 2 years of treatment for epilepsy uncontrolled.  All his seizures occurred in showers and with exercise.  Do you know what your friends 13 year old is being treated with.  My son also started this when he was 13 years old...Thanks

My friend's 13 year old has been diagnosed with syncope.  She faints lesss than once every two weeks.  Her school is making her use a wheelchair all day and has kicked her off the track team despite Dr's ok.  This seems like a knee-jerk over reaction that is having horrible effects on her self esteem.  What would you do?

hi,the main concern with fainting episodes are cardiac and neurological. You had heart monitoring which seems to be ok and EEG is suggestive of some lesion(abnormality as you wrote).

Please follow doctor's advice as they are on right path.Take care!
