Extremely painful headaches for 6 years

I have been having terrible headaches. They are mostly on the left side near the temple area and around the left eye. The headaches rarely ever let up. They are either lightly there or I am in agonizing pain that takes me down and causes me to put pressure on the area in order to get some releif. The head aches are not always light or sound sensitive. I've been having these headaches since I was about 15, as far as I can remember. Some times the intense pain hits me and brings me to tears and is just a sharp sharp terrible pain and then 20-45 seconds later it lets up and just goes back to a slight pain again. Sometimes I have to take pain killers in order to sleep. I am allergic to every over the counter pain relief. Tylenol, Alieve, Advil, Ibuprofen....and so on. I am allergic to Tylenol with codeine as well. I have seen about 4 different doctors and had blood work done. I have seen a Rhuematologist as well. She said it was because I have rheumatoid arthritist. She prescirbed Vioxx and a head ache pill ( i can't remember the name of), when I was 16, but my heart raced and I could feel my pulse through my entire body so she took me off both medications and I've tried another head ache pill recently that I can't remember the name of..some like Frova maybe? But nothing works. Darvacet, and Vicoden have worked. But I can't take these often becuase they are naucotics and dr's wont prescribe them for a full time permanent use. I have also noticed my memory isn't as well as it used to be. I have never had a MRI or CTScan done for my head, but wondered if I should? I'm about tired of messing with going to the dr because they all pretty much tell me they dont know what to do for me. or to just try this drug and send me on my way. I've never been too big on going to the dr anyway. Any ideas or opinions? I'm tired of a headache all the time!!! I have a 15 mont old son i am trying to raise and my headache just takes me down sometimes and I dont know how i can keep this up. I need relief!

May need straightened out on this...I've read that Magnesium is found in nuts, dried peas and beans, whole grain cereals such as oatmeal, millet, and brown rice, dark green vegetables, bone meal, blackstrap molasses, brewer's yeast, soy products, dark green vegetables. Is this true? If it is, would eating more of these foods, such as nuts, whole grain cereals, and dark green vegetables, also help the headaches? If I had a better diet of these food maybe that would help? Something not mentioned was that I've been diagnosed as depressed and have wondered if that had anything to do with headaches? I've not taken medication for depression in years and have been too embarrassed about it to return to the doctor and mention that I'm still in that state. Also, when I was about 4 years old a CT and MRI was done and one of them revealed that I have "small sharp bones" growing inside my sinuses??? Have you ever heard of this? I guess I just need to make a doctor's appointment, but the doctor's I've gone to have been no help so far. You've given me a little bit of courage and confidence again to possibly make an appointment, since you actually listened to my problem and responded with what I think is a helpful answer. Thank you. Hope you can answer my other questions as well.

Thank you for your response. I will make an appointment and ask my Doctor about Magnesium tablets. That is something I have never even heard of. Thanks again.

Hello.

I can understand what you are going through. There are so many medicines available, but you can't take them due to the allergy. Why don't you try Magnesium tablets? From your description, it looks like this is a migraine headache. Magnesium helps. You could ask your Neurologist to prescribe you this.

I am not sure if CT or MRI will show anything.

Regards
