Face vibrating, hands numb contorting, mouth tightening and hard to open

I hope neurology is the correct topic for this.

When I experience depression or social anxiety, the skin on my face feels like it's vibrating violently, my lower eyelids begin shaking so much that my vision is being shaken, my hands and fingers become very numb and contort inwards towards my body almost to the point of it being painful. And the most recent episode, the skin around my mouth tightened up so bad I could hardly open my mouth to talk.

I'm on zoloft, lithium, and invega but I vaguely remember the hand contortions before ever taking medication for my depression.

I've mentioned it to my psychiatrist but he doesn't seem to care. I'm ok with him not thinking it's important, but I would at least like to know why this is happening.

Thanks.

:-)

I can't find anything anywhere either about face symptoms that happens to me when my social phobia starts. I also have the eye switching really bad. It's embarrassing. If I try to smile my lips will also twitch out of control. I can't crack the slightest smirk or they go out of control. Weird, I know. So, I am with you when it comes to this face stuff. Oh yeah, and I have the feeling that I can't hold up my neck. It literally feels like my neck has lost all muscle in it and feels flimzy and wants to fall back wards. It's a very strange sensation. Hope this helps as far as you not being alone on this. I know your post helped me.

Any material I can read?

I can't find anything that links my symptoms to social anxiety.

Alright.

Is there any material I can read on it? There was nothing about my symptoms on that wiki page (I don't doubt you're correct about social anxiety) but I'd like to read up on it if there's anything available online.

Hi,

How are you?
Yes it is quite possible that your symptoms are related to social anxiety. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been found quite useful in social anxiety and social phobia.

I would suggest you to explore this option and let us know if you need more help.
