Ok thanks just one more thing can a ct scan with dye an a ct scan without dye and a mri with out dye miss a brain tumor
Hay and thank you for the riply i did follow up with a cta scan and no there is no aneurysm
Do you have any idea y it said what it did on the mri
Hello and hope you are doing well.
The normal diameter of the basilar artery varies from 3-7 mm (mean of 4.3 mm). Since the value noted is 4.5, its marginally elevated. But the proximal and distal segments show a diameter of 2.8mm. Only further evaluation can help diagnose an aneurysm.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Good to know your results are normal on the MRI. If you actually see the CT report, its 4.5 and then suddenly the proximal and distal segments are below the normal at 2.8. Its quite drastic. CT scans are imaging studies and images can present differently based on the position of the patient and also on the neighboring structures. It can also depend on the technician performing the scan. Also, for soft tissue imaging MRI gives more resolution and detailing. So, it should more accurate.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
