Burning sensations

Hi I’ve been experiencing burning sensations in my forearms and the front of my thighs for approximately 4 months now. There is no real signs of redness or damage to the effected areas. It just burns coming and going without warning. However, my right forearm burns without ceasing.
My doctor prescribed me 300mg Gabapentin 2x daily. It helped briefly and the burning came back. Actually, the Gaba started intensifying burning in other areas of my body and gave me heat flashes so I’ve started to ween myself off of it.
What could this be? How do I fit it?

Thanks, did you have the exact same burning sensations that I have? Did they just show up one day or did you hurt your?
I think I was run down and my immune system was struggling.  I read through a bunch of other posts and found that a bunch of folks complained of these symptoms after having a bad cold or flu.  I did not have any of those symptoms but a week prior a came home with the cold chills and a slight fever, which was gone the next day.  About 4 or 5 days later, I noticed my belly and front of my thighs was sensitive to touch, the next day the belly and my right forearm, the day after my left upper arm.  And a few days later the inside of my knees and some knee pain.  That's when I started looking for some suggestions and found magnesium citrate.  I also got a OneADay vitamin to cover my bases, because other suggested B6 and C.
Some call it sensitivity, or like a sun burn, my first thought was it felt like every hair in the area was being pulled back.  Sometimes I would get a painful twitch under the skin that would last a few moments then go away.  Took the OneADay for men and 500mg of the magnesium citrate, and 12 hours later, no more sensitivity or pain.
Seems like something easy, safe and inexpensive to do, so I did it.  Not sure what the root of the problem is though, if I was not getting enough of these vitamins or something else. I already take B12 and D because my blood tests told me to.  So it is possible I was lacking other elements as well.
Oh, and I've been taking for my third day now and still no pain or sensitivity.
redroctruc, the magnesium worked great! Thank you.

Glad it helped. I stopped after the symptoms went away.  Was giving me a lot of gas.  Just doing the one a day vitamin now, which also contains magnesium
