Pain during Caloric

I just had the caloric warm air test. Right ear completed, rest period, then 15 seconds into left ear test I was begging them to quit the test. I was in so much pain they stopped the test. They said it was the most important test of all and I completed all the other tests. This was the last one. They would not continue with the cold air test. I was exhausted and my eyes were so tired I could hardly drive home.

What if anything is the cause of this reaction?
