I appreciate your comments very much. Yes I am in the UK, and yes I will go and have a check up. Thank you.
Oh julieh, you really, really should have gone to A&E the same night you hit your head. When you go to A&E, you are first assessed by an experienced nurse. They decide how quickly you need to be seen. Head injuries are almost ALWAYS given priority, and you would have likely been seen straight away. Concussion can be life threatening, and the first 24 hours after a fall are crucial to assess if there is dangerous damage. You really were taking a serious risk not attending. Now, three weeks later, you are having some apparently quite dramatic symptoms, which may or may not be related to your fall. Regardless, they are very concerning symptoms, and indicate possible neurological damage to the nerves supplying your brain. Of course you need to get this checked out. You can either make an emergency appointment with your doctor tomorrow (or as it is the weekend call the out of hours service), or even better, go to the hospital and explain what happened. Believe me they get people turning up with less severe symptoms than this. Maybe this time round, as this has been going on for a while now, they may make you wait a little longer, but you will be seen, and hopefully given a proper investigation. It sounds like a CT scan of your brain would be in order given your symptoms, or even an MRI. If they give you the all clear then go to your doctor the next week anyway, and see if they will refer you on to a neurologist. As you are using the term A&E I'm assuming you're from the UK? Me too. Get this checked out, and if you are reading this now I can guess that the early hours of Sunday Morning may be a quiet time at the hospital, if you feel okay now give it a few hours and then go. By 6am or so most of the 'drunks' will be on their way. Sunday morning is a good time to get to the hospital, so I do hope you go. And I hope you get good answers and direction. Best of luck.
