MS vs. ALS

Approximately 4 years ago I started experiencing symptoms of muscle pain, especially in my legs, with headache, fatigue, brain fog and fasciculations.  I saw a Neurologist, and after two MRI's and two MRA's with and without contrast, some lab work, and EEG, and an EMG, the only thing that was wrong was that I had scattered areas of increased white matter signal.  He believed that it was nothing other than nerves and stress, stating that he probably had something similar in his brain, and I moved on. I've been pretty fine since then.
3 years later, approx 6 weeks ago, I felt "flu-ish."  I saw a ARNP, and she tested me for flu, and it was positive.  (I was complaining of just fatigue, not sleeping well and muscle aches, tightness in the legs, etc.  She ran a CPK, and it was elevated at 170.  She attributed it to the flu, and suggested I have it rechecked in 3 months.
After not feeling any better 5 weeks later, I saw my doctor.  Same symptoms, better some days, worse some days.  She re ran the CPK ,and it's now 270 (I was sore that day; I had cleaned out my fish pond and my legs and arms were extremely sore from hauling buckets of water.)  She now wants to refer me back to a neurologist.
The fasciculations are worse now; but I'm scared to death of ALS, MS or whatever. I would just like to know, so that if I need to be on particular meds, I could get started, but it appears that I won't see a neurologist for 3 months!!!  I may stroke before then, not knowing what's happening.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for your response.  I've been a respiratory therapist for almost 30 years, so i usually go to the extreme side of any possible diagnosis.
Patience is not one of my best attributes.
Thanks so much for your response.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) cannot be conclusive due to elevated CPK.
Have patience and consult a neurologist and do not come to diagnosis yourself.
As per as medication you can only take them with a prescription and you have to go for a neuroligist for this.
Take care!
