Numbness

I have had an Anterior Cervical Discectomy (@ C5-6 & C6-7) 8 years ago, due to disk rupture, spinal stenosis and cord compression.  The neurosurgeon decompressed as much of the compression as he could, but said that I would have permanent residual damage, if I still had symptoms after 18 months post op.   I have recently begun to have NEW problems which are :  intermittent heavy tingling (Strong pins and needles sensations) in the back of my neck ABOVE my surgery site, with "sticking" sensations (like a pin *****, or a "sting") in my midspine area between my shoulders, and also slightly to the left of my spine.  Also have had tightness and pain of my LEFT side of my neck for this whole year, which barely eases up with muscle relaxers

It sounds like you're getting the appropriate pain management with muscle relaxants. However, your symptoms are concerning for a possible compression of a nerve root coming from the cervical portion of the spinal cord. These could explain the pins and pricking sensations in the neck and face area. But it's also possible that it's a primary muscle strain/tension problem in the neck that responds to the medical therapy. Consider getting an MRI of your cervical spine just to make sure everything is okay and a neurology appointment. Best of luck.

By the way, I have been to my MD, and received a Decadron injection, and 2 week prescriptions for Ponstel, and Skelaxin....am to return in 2 weeks, if symptoms continue.  I am not asking for a diagnosis.
