Neuropathy and pain

I am a 29 year-old female with the following primary symptoms:
1. Neuropathy with “half-numbness” as well as various types of pain in all four limbs, with fatigue; “half-numbness”/altered sensation started mid-May, while the pain started mid-June and has continued.  The level of severity of pain appears to be related to the amount of rest and activity I get.
2.  Hypotension: My blood pressure dropped last week after I felt like I was going to pass out, and remained low.  I have occasional feelings of lightheadedness.  My pulse became abnormally elevated from lying, to sitting, to standing per the doctor’s visit.  Dehydration was ruled out via urinalysis.
3. Heart flutters: I have a history of my heart skipping beats since a pre-teen; however, it was usually related to caffeine.  My heart skips beats more now and also flutters.
4.  History of atypical migraines with visual aura, followed by numbness in arms and/or feeling of being separated from my left arm.  No treatment except pressure point.
5. Strained eyes: Occasionally my eyes feel extremely worn out as if they’ve been open and moving constantly all day, with pain behind my eyes and headache, which began early June.

I have a family history of various disorders, but none which seem to be closely similar.
I was referred to a neurologist and cardiologist.  I had a Brain MRI, which was completely normal, and the neuro used it to rule out MS.  I had blood work done, and everything was very normal, which ruled out SLE/Lupus, hypothyroidism, anemia, and diabetes; rheumatoid factor and ANA were negative.

All I was told by the neuro was that I didn’t have MS.  I am scheduled for a Nerve Conduction Study/Electromyography.  I haven’t seen the cardio yet.

What are all these symptoms consistent with?
I had thought for a while that I may have hypothyroidism (also a family history), because I have several other apparently ‘insignificant’ hypothyroid like symptoms.  However, the blood work was normal (T3,T4/T3 Uptake; T4 (thyroxine); T7 Index; Thyroid Antibody Profile; Thyroglobulin antibodies; TSH).  I have not had any recent unusual stressful events; it’s not stress or anxiety.

What would be appropriate procedures/course of action for this?
I realize this isn’t an emergency, but I have had some type of pain since mid-June and it is interfering with my normal daily activities, not to mention my mood.  And my drop in blood pressure and heart flutters are obviously also of great concern.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

After evaluation by several neurologists and many tests, I finally found out that I have subclinical hypothyroidism, after initiating an evaluation by an endocrinologist myself.  I was told I had mild enlargement of the thyroid.  After starting synthroid, my symptoms disappeared.  I also realized that my lack of concentration and difficulty learning new information (which I didn't connect to my other problems) was directly related to the hypothyroidism as well.  It was like night and day- like getting half my brain back. Apparently peripheral neuropathy/pain is a relatively rare symptom of hypothyroidism, but certainly very significant in my case.  I suspected hypothyroidism all along, but since my blood work was 'normal,' it wasn't considered.  Hopefully this helps someone else who's feeling frustrated with the same symptoms.

Hi,

There is a possibility that all these symptoms could be due to some nutritional deficiency. I would suggest you to start a multivitamin supplement and see if it helps. Also make sure that you eat regularly, maintain hydration with sufficient fluid intake and get a good nights sleep. Also try to reduce anxiety and any form of stress in your day to day life.
You can take OTC pain killers for migraine and also do some breathing exercises. If you can identify a trigger for your migraines nothing like it because identification and avoidance of trigger is the best treatment.
