Numbness, itchy, cold, burning leg

For 4 months, I have suffered from a numb, itchy, and cold/burning right upper leg. It is also sensitive to the touch and I sometimes get stabbing pains in the same area. In June it started as a quarter size area...now it has increased to my whole front leg. I do have an appt. for an MRI next week, but am very curious about this until I get a final diagnosis. The doctor I chose to go to did not offer much info...he thinks I may have a damaged nerve in my back. He also told me during my exam that I have 'brisk reflexes' and had asked me if I had always had 'brisk reflexes'. He seemed very concerned about this condition. I also have fatigue and always a feeling of muscle aches and sometimes confusion. Please...anyone that has suffered from this condition, please respond....I am very concerned about this and would appreciate any info from anyone!

I think there are more of us out here than you think.  I have been dealing with this for 5 years with no firm diagnosis.  Even blankets hurt to lay on my legs even though they are numb.  I was diagnosed with MS 10 years ago so all tests have been aimed towards that but with no good answer.  I hope one of us will see a positve post before we naw our own leg off.  Good luck in your search. We are all right there with you hoping for something positive.

The condition is called Meralgia-Paresthetica and I have been suffering from it for the past many years. It has recently become worse since I put on somee weight. I notice it is aggravated when I exercise that I do now regularly with long walks and some jogging. Check out this link for further details on the nature of this problem:  http://www.webmd.com/diabetes/guide/meralgia-paresthetica

I have same issue. It's on my Left thigh above my knee.

I have read through a lot of symptoms on this site and yours was curious because you mentioned you also have suffered from an upper digestion problem.
I too have recently had this but indigestion and acid reflux runs in my family so didn't think much about it. However, sometimes when I eat I feel like I can't digest for hours and I am bloated and in pain for hours afterwards.

In relation to the left thigh, I have noticed symptoms about a year ago. I was walking my dog and his leash got tangled with another dogs leash and cracked sharply against my left thigh above the knee. What resulted was a large raised bruise that hurt for weeks afterwards. Once healed though it started to itch and get a cold/burning/ numbing sensation. I havent experienced the pain symptoms but everything else.

I also experience occasional lower back pain and have thrown my back out several times.

I am not overweight (5'4" and 130 lbs) but I don't stretch often enough or exercise often enough.

I haven't seen a dr especially after reading how unhelpful they are. Western medicine is so limited and closed minded to other possibilities. I wonder if dietitians could help, or Chinese medicine, or acupuncture. Has anyone tried alternatives to western medicine?
