I'm in the 9th week of what was diagnosed as a disk herniation at C67. The pain in my left arm is practically non-existent and much of the numbness and tingling is better, although triceps weakness remains. More disturbing is the tingling in my right hand and lower leg that has developed in the last 3 weeks The orthopedic surgeon has recommended a fusion, although he is allowing me to start PT this week and see him again in two weeks. The talk of permanant nerve damage is almost as frightening as the talkes of poor outcomes from fusions. I haven't yet sought a second surgical opinion, but did see a pain specialist who recommended that I did NOT have the surgery since I am not in an emergency situation. How does one decide the best course of action? Has anyone waited it out and been glad that they did?
