B12 level is dropping with B12 injections?????

I am getting at my wits end and scared.  I cannot get the VA to listen to me yet, though do have an appointment with neurologist on Tuesday.  Problem is I am suppose to bring in my recordsto him, and how am I suppose to guess what he wants or needs to read? Talked to nurse practioner last Monday about my concerns about my homocysteine level being so high ( 45.9) and tried to get her to order the methylonic acid test which she would not do.  She thought I was overreacting...back to that "mental' thing again.
got more of my lab tests results back:  B 12 level has dropped to 558    Prior reference levels:  1/99  level was 294; 9/99 level was 784 and May of 2000 level was 804 with no B12 test since then.  My RDW level is elevated again and the MCHC is below normal (which were normal last year in March)

I have been suffering more problems lately (last four or five months now) with vision getting worse; ringing in my ears again, muscle jerking, profound fatigue, recently started having problems with a tachycardia problem when standing up (pulse shoots up over 30-50 beats just on standing, and most of all, really having problems remembering or thinking clearly.  Why would the B12 seem to work at first and now be dropping even though I am still getting the shots?  Does the clinic you are at accept Medicare......I am getting desperate and not sure the VA cares about what happens to me!!!  I have to stop this before I can no longer think or do things!!  Thanks ever so much

I am a female who will be turning 31 in October of this year. I know as we tend to get older, not all things work as good as in our younger years. However, most of my life for as long as I can remember, I have always had stomach problems.  Sometimes I can eat spicey foods, other times it puts me to bed for days on end.  I have a very hard time digesting mayonnaise and milk along with many other seasonings for different foods.  I've noticed that within a few hours of eating and drinking the two (mayo & milk), I need a gingerale to calm my stomach.

In addition to the stomach problems, I can't take horse pills of any kind.  I gag everytime I try to ingest any vitamin supplements.  Because of this I believe that I am missing out on some very important nutrients.  I get fatigued very quickly after running up a flight of stairs or walking a quarter mile. My latest attempt to cure this was making an appointment with my doctor to get a B12 injection.  I am hoping this will help in the areas where I am lacking.  Has anyone had a B12 injection? If so, could you provide some feedback as to what I can expect from it. Will it bother my stomach? and, How long does it take to become effective?

The B12 may have dropped, but it is still in normal range. If you are concerned about the B12 shots, make sure you're getting the right dose and the pharmacy is giving you the right concentrations. SOme physicians feel the MMA levels are better markers than B12 levels for gauging true deficiency.Perhaps your new neuro will agree to getting one.

The new neurologist will probably want to see hard copies of ALL of your MRIs brain and spine, and possibly your pertinent lab reports. An eye exam would be important as you say your vision is worsening. We do accept medicare at the Cleveland CLinic. So if your neurologist doesn't work out, we'd be happy to see you here. Best of luck.
