I went to PT today for traction and when it was done I told them what was going on like numbness and tingling in both my arms and wrist and then my forearm started to hurt and my neck and shoulder was hurting the same but got worst when I sat up. The personnel said that cancel the other appointment cause it is not going to help you, They said in need to talk to pain management
I went to PT and they said that they are going to try traction and see if it will work. But the Pt doc said he believe that it willl not work for me cause he tried it with his hands and I still had bad pain. Then he said the best thing for me is going to pain management. I will continue sending you updates.
I can understand your worrying concern about your health concern and no sure success treatments that you have tried. I think then rehabilitation is the only effective way to help you to regain function in better way and prevent from permanent losses. If rehabilitation program is appropriately instituted, most of the cervical patients can regain maximum functions with appropriate therapy, training and support services. For coordinated rehabilitation program a team of a neurologist, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and a nutritionist work together to help you in your recovery. Therefore, I would suggest following the suggestion made by them and recovery will be although slow but most of the functions may be restored. Hope this helps.
Sir the doctors prescribe me muscle relaxers, pain pills like tylenol codeine, percocet, nerve meds, anti flam meds, i had the steroid shots all most everything...lol they don't work. I can't do the neck brace because I'm in the military and I have to drive to work and back home. I do sit up in the car while I'm driving and sitting up in a chair and keeping my neck straight and align also. PT gave me excerises to do for my posture and I been doing it for the past 2 months now. it still not working
Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you, I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.
It appears that your symptoms may be due to nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of injury or disc prolapse where contact between the edges of the vertebrae can cause neck pain. In few people, this pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head (as electric sensation)- LHERMITTES SIGN, shoulders (as blade), arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness can be intermittent. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants. Other treatments could be cervical orthosis such as a soft cervical collar/stiffer neck brace to restrict neck movement. In addition, cervical traction may also be suggested by the doctor, if condition is severe. Hope this helps.
