Painless muscle contractions

Hey! I'm new here and i hope to get some answers!

I am a 20 years old female, quite active, leading a normal social life, no history of neurological or psychological disorders. I do not take any form of medication and i have never in the past, and i am not on The Pill either.
I am somewhat stressed but i wouldn't say i suffer from anxiety or any form of psychological disorders. My diet is not exactly the best though.

About two years ago i notcied how my eye would twitch, it would be very settle and almost go by unnoticed. Later on i could feel painless muscle contractions on my face, cheek and eye area especially.
Also, i started to notice the same painless muscle contractions/twitches on my upper arms and also sometimes feet. They're not painful, sometimes tingiling but they do not numb me. For a while i thought it was a magnesium def. so i started taking magnesium, calcium and zinc supplements, those did not help.

Why is this happening? Should i be seriously worried?

Hi, Thank you for your question. This muscle contraction or twitches is also called as muscle fasciculation & appears when the muscle contracts on its own (without nerve stimulation).  Most of the times these symptoms occur without any underlying disorder & they are not harmful or may appear after anxiety, viral illness or long term illness. But sometimes this muscle twitching appears after hormonal disorder (esp.thyroid) or as atrophy and weakness of muscle as well. Most likely cause of this twitching with weakness/atrophy of muscle can be when the nerve supplying to body muscles are not functioning properly due to any neurological disorder. If you suffer continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in areas, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. Hope this information proves helpful to you. Take Care & Regards!!!

if they're like vibrations i'd say that it's muscle fasciculations. usually they're benign and more of a discomfort than anything else. if it's more like a twitch/jerk then i would say that it's myoclonus which could be a little more serious because there are many, many things that cause that like: kidney/liver damage, spinal cord/head trauma, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, side effects of medications and tumours, amongst others. i'd sugget that you just get it checked out to be on the safe side

I don't know how to edit my previous post, so i'm just going to write it here.

The muscle contractions almost feel like vibrations. Does anyone else know what i mean? It's sort of difficult for me to describe the exact feeling.

Hope to hear you guys!
