Popping sensations

In recent years i have randomly had these sharp popping pains in the right rear of my head.
I would describe the feeling as a rubber band poping when stretch to far.
Any thoughts

Hi.

I think you have the occipital neuralgia. The occipital nerve gets injured. This can be confirmed by C2 C3 block. (CT fluoroscopy–guided percutaneous C2-C3 block).

Have you thought of seeing a Neurologist ?

Actually I did have a car accident where the air bags failed to deploy about 3-6 months before this started

Hello.

This looks like a neuromuscular problem. There are neck muscles and some nerves travel through the neck muscle mass. If there are come jerks to the neck, the nerves may get injured, and it may take a long time to heal, as the neck is mobile all the time.

Have you had any injury to the head or the neck ?

Regards
