Right arm pain after eating

About four years ago my dad starting experiencing severe right arm pain after eating.  He made several trips to the ER where they checked his heart and gallbladder and tested his blood.  They never seemed to figure it out.  He has taken medicine for acid reflux and had a scope of his esophagus.
Nerve tests were done and found out there were pinched nerves.  His neck had cervical disc damage and bone spurs.  A little over a week ago he had surgery where the neurosurgeon replaced two discs and removed 4 bone spurs.

My dad is now very depressed because after this surgery he is still experiencing severe right arm pain after he eats.  The food can be ice cream, white beans, tamales, etc.  We don't know what is causing this.  He can drink water or anything and his arm won't hurt.   This pain is very severe, he has to close his eyes and suffer through it until it is over.  Sometimes it even hurts up in his chest and jaw.  His heart has been checked numerous times and always is fine.

The pain has been the same for four years not any better or worse.    If you have any comments/suggestions/similar stories please help us by sharing.

Go for MRI to rule out any cyst etc. If mri ok, problem is interior of any nerve. Probable cause could b nerve damage due to diabeties, metabolic acidosis etc. Rule out one by one..

August 13th, 2010  Dad had a heart attack. Heart cath showed 100% blockage in one artery, 99% blocked in another.   Underwent triple bypass surgery.  August 26th, 2010 his arm pain is pretty much gone.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
If all the tests are normal , the cause could be Angina . After a person eats- blood is mostly needed in the gut to help digest the food .  To digest all that food, the  heart beats faster and works harder. The racing heart causes spasm like feeling in the muscles causing pain . Please try giving muscle relaxants half an hour before meals and the meals should comprise mainly of semisolid fat free diet for a few days . Please note the difference . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
