Its not nyctalopia; its just vitreous cells seen on some surfaces. Nictalopia means night blindness. a person can not see anything in that condition; its black out state.
I've had what looks like static from the tv my entire life. I've asked different dr's about it and they had no clue. I see mine all the time, day/night it doesn't matter. Once in a while I see lines of color, like a kaleidoscope. They'll move around and then end up covering everything to the point I can't see anything. The eye exam I had when I was turning 40 I brought it up to the dr because I had never been to her before, expecting the same answer as always, I was very surprised when she said the lines were from migraines. I said that I didn't have pain with it, just the vision problems, but I do get migraines where my head hurts, nausea, etc. She said it's the same thing as the migraine you get in your head. These types of migraines are in your eyes. The vessels in your eyes contract and you'll get the visual disturbances. I've noticed when I get up in the morning and free of stress it's not as bad. The more stress the worse it is. A hot rag on over my eyes help too. I always thought it was normal until I was talking about it being worse that day to someone and they had no clue what I was talking about.
I've had this since childhood as well. It is called static vision.
You can do an internet search on it. The only thing that helped me was a powerful antioxidant drink and meditation. Stress causes the condition to intensify. It will never completely go away.
Maybe one day they will no more about this.
Best of Luck
In complete dark, and from childhood as well, I will see the static. I only see it in a pitch dark room, after my eyes adjust to the darkness. Mine is greyish and foggy, sometimes faint red statics will appear. Also, if there is a light on in my room, and I look at anything before closing my eyes, I will see that object once my eyes are closed. It's almost like watching a "light" projection of that object on my eyelids(like a movie!).
I was always afraid of the light images as a child. My mother took me into a pediatric eye specialist, who said that this is not a serious medical condition, but coorelates with color blindness and poor night vision. Nyctalopia is the name of this condition. I am extremely sensitive to any change in light. My eyes take a while to adjust, and this is when the static is most visable. There are isolated cases of this, but primarily it is seen in families. My father had the same thing. Hope this helps. You are fine!!! :o) You probably just have eyes that are more sensitive to light (and the variations of light/darkness). Even entering a room that is slightly darker than what I was just in will cause the static to occur. Don't worry. This is common.
