Serious Adverse Reaction to Vaccine

My 12 year old son had a serious adverse reaction to a Hepatitis-A vaccine.  We have been to two hospitals and have seen two neurologists outside of the hospital.  The doctors are not willing to help us because the symptoms are complex and I think they may be worried about being involved in a law suit.  We are just trying to get help for our son.  We are good natured people.  But we have been treated rudely by these doctors and we can not seem to get help.  Therefore I am trying to find some answers using the internet.  I hope there is someone who has had a similar experience or is knowledgeable can help us.

My son is religious, good natured, and well mannered.  He is a straight A student in the gifted and talented program at school.  About two months ago he received the second Hepatitis-A shot.  Thirty minutes later he also had an allergy shot.  Later that evening he started having tingling in both arms.  A couple of days later he had severe burning pain in his arms.  After about 3 weeks he had a constant ache.  The burning pain came if he tried to write to exercise his arms.  Just as it seemed like he was getting a little better, it went into his legs.  First the burning pain, then aching.  He is now unable to walk and unable to use his arms.  He does not appear to be any better.  Physical therapy brings on the buring pain.

The only tests the doctors at the hospital were willing to do was an MRI and blood work because his reflexes were good. The blood work showed he had a high CK level.

Any ideas?

Poking around on the internet,  I found this piece of research. I don't even know how to order the research,  but it links vaccine adjuvants (catalysts) to macrophagic myofascitis,  which is what it sounds like your son has.

I think you could probably obtain the article to learn more,  or search those two terms.  It sounds hopeful,  that if this is what he has,  it's treatable through steroids and/or antibiotics.

Best wishes.  This sounds awful.

Mike,  I also found this post,  in searching old MedHelp articles.  He doesn't seem to get completely clear answers,  but the symptoms sound so much like your sons - hep a vaccine,  then an onset that appeared to get better then much worse.

Prayers you find the answers you are looking for.
