You NEED to see a NEUROLOGIST! I presented with seizures back in 1993 and I only had them at night while I was sleeping. I only became aware of them at first due to petechia (broken blood vessels) on my neck and very sore muscles when I woke up in the morning. I then would have broken blood vessels in the whites of my eyes. I went to my G.P. and she sent me to a neurologist right away and I was diagnosed with having Grand Mal Seizures. However, there are other causes for seizures than epilepsy! I did not have epilepsy but unfortunately they diagnosed me with Multiple Sclerosis but I have been in remission for 13 years ever since they got the seizures under control with the medications! There are also drugs that work wonderfully to stop the seizures and I am lucky that I have not had a seizure for about 13 years! Please have a g.p. refer you to a Neurologist as soon as you can! I too am adopted and it really didn't make any difference because even though you have no family history that doesn't change the fact that you are having these episodes and they need to help you! The dr. in St. Catharines must be from the dark ages in calling what you are having fits! Get yourself to a good dr. and don't give up until they help you! There is someone out there that will look after you but sometimes it takes a while to find the right one but keep in looking!! Good Luck and let us know how things are going!

These came about ...about 4-5 years ago.....other people said I have had them sense young but for me knowing I have no clue. I have been to Niagara Falls general and have had EEG 2 times and nothing yet. Family history I don't know because of being in foster care since young due to being abused as a child. lights, to little sleep, stressed will set them off. Sometimes they just come with no warning. I have been to one in st.catharines, and she told me that it was just me having fits.
Are there any activities that trigger these "attacks"? Do you have a family history of seizures/epilepsy?
It would be best if consult a neurologist as soon as possible to assess your symptoms.
There are few medicines which can stop these events, but that is upon neuroconsultation.
Hi Lizard102,
There are still few things which are unclear, like these are new occurings or you had this since childhood.Who has evaluated you and told that it is all fake.Generally ,In some seizures patient would lose consciouness momentarily, but regains it again without any other obvious abnormal activity in body. But a Neuro-consultation and Video EEG will clarify whether these events are fake or Seizures.
