Shaking or hands

My question stems from the fact that over the past year I have noticed my hands and arms tend to shake when I am holding an object like a cell phone or I am sitting still.  Also I have notice that my neck muscles are twiching when I seem to be still. For example when I am watching TV.
My hands do move shake from a left to right motion.  Should I have this checked and if so by what type of physician?

Hi,

Thanks for writing.

These symptoms could be due to benign causes like fatigue, stress and anxiety. However the possibility of essential tremors cannot be ruled out especially if you have a positive family history of tremors.
I would suggest you to get yourself clinically evaluated by your GP. If it is essential tremors or if they are getting uncontrollable you may need medications like beta blockers.
In the meantime do some self relaxation exercises like breathing exercises on a regular basis.

Take care!
