Why does my head still hurt where I hit it seven years ago?I suffered a concussion after falling against a wooden fence, which was demolished by the force.I had an xray and there was no fracture, but I was still vomiting 18 hrs later.

Thank you so much for answering my question,no I did not have an M.R.I. I get the feeling that the dr s think I am just attention seeking I do get quite excruciating headaches and when its going to rain the whole right side of my head (where i hurt it)throbs and hurts,I was prescribed amytryptiyline to see if that helped ,it didn't, I also suffer dizzy spells and have problems with my memory ,forget films i've seen only recently, keep buying magazines I've already bought, that type of thing. I don't know if I should keep hassling the gp s or accept my head is now going to hurt and just get on with it.I just don't want it to be something serious and leave it if something can be done to stop it hurting?Thank you once again for taking the time to read this any help is greatly appreciated magik miss

Hi, Thank you for your question to the forum. Usually, such symptoms may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury.  For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises. If you suffer continuous headache, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Further referral to a psychologist may be also helpful in order to treat usual anxiety or depression after such injuries (sometimes one may have) that may be one of the aggravating factors for persistent symptoms. Hope this information proves helpful to you.  Take Care & Regards!!!

HI...did u have an MRI?...an xray will only show changes to the bone...u need to see what happened to the soft tissues in that area. An injury/trauma like this can cause a slow developing issue called syringomyelia...do talk to ur dr about doing an MRI to rule these issues  out for u and to get to the bottom of ur problem.

Good luck
