Shoulder tip pain after LP shunt placement

This is the strangest pain and has been worse than the incision pain since surgery last week.  If I am laying down I can move my arm any way that I want and I have no shoulder pain at all, it does not seem muscular at all.  If I start moving around (which I am not doing much of because of low pressure headaches) the shoulder tip pain gets bad very quickly.  It is very very sharp and just on the ends of my shoulders with my right side being MUCH worse than my left.  When it happens it hurts much worse just from breathing... I find I am holding my breath to stop the sharp pains?  Any ideas what can cause this type of pain?  I just had the LP shunt placement to try and resolve csf pressure issues and a pseudomeningocle that I have from a chiari decompression surgery.  I had a surgery for a repair and I just got another pseudo.  It has been a couple long years.  -zygy

I will have to ask her!  The low pressure headaches stink but he does not want to adjust the shunt until the pseudo is gone.... I think it is gone :)  I can't hear it or feel it anymore!  The shoulder pain is terrible though, it is not muscular and has to be referred pain or nerves.  The incisions are not too bad though, that part is going well.  Just have to stay laying down a while.  I know my shunt is on a high setting now so it can be lowered if my head does not adjust itself.  Just hoping it does not take too long, my back is so sore from laying in bed all day.  I don't like pain meds so it is just my sore back and ibuprofen!  Thanks for the tip about Soccoro! :)
