Stimulator adjustments
I've had a spinal coard stimulator implant installed, and they can not adjust the stimulator out of my stomach and abdmen. It is irratating to my stomach and intestenons. Is damaging me in any way or form if this continues like this. If they can't get this adjusted out, could I live with this with damaging myself. Henry 123htg@charter,net Thanks

Hi there. The implantable pulse generator IPG, radiofrequency, or RF unit is usually implanted in the lower abdominal area or in the posterior superior gluteal region. It should be in a place where patients can access with their dominant hand for adjustment of their settings with the patient held remote control. Complications with spinal cord stimulator range from simple issues to paralysis, nerve injury and death. The common complications include lead migration, lead breakage and infection. Others are hematomas( subcutaneous or epidural), cerebrospinal fluid leak, post dural puncture headache, discomfort at pulse generator site, seroma, transient paraplegia. Electrode migration, fractured electrodes and rotation of pulse generator are also noted. You need to confirm with your neurosurgeon about the correct placement of the device to avoid all these scenarios. Take care.
I do have a remote, but the remote anly controls so much. The stimulated areas are done by Boston Scietific co personel with there computer. My question is if they can not get the stimuation out from my stomach and abdominal areas can it and or will it cause any damage to me. Weather it be long or short term. It was put in for put in for my lower back, hips,and legs. NOT MY STOMACH. Henryg123
