Tarun 1.2 year old- Seizers

Can anyone help me
My son was born on 14th of Jan.2007, during his birth was admitted to ICU the same day due to "Respiratory Distress", and was there was 5 days and then discharged. Subsequently he was normal unitl 5and half months with all milestone been normal. Except his head was not fixed, he was rooling over and all other activities were normal.

During end of 5th month, he has an seizer early in the morning due to high fever, no movement of his eyeball, hand and leg became stiff say for around a minute or so. He was taken to hospital and then was kept under observation. During afternoon he had one more seizure, this time his hand movements were erratic, so he was shifted to ICU for observation and medication. He was treated with Eptoin from then.

For six days he was kept in ICU where in he was subjected to all types of tests like

MRI SCAN, Lub Puntcture test, blood test for all elements

All turned out to be negative. But our luck turned out to be bad, after another two weeks, he had a severe seizer, where in his hands and legs both became  very stiff, and eyes and face blogged, this was there was nearly 20 minutes until we reached hospital.

After this he was taken to a Paeditric neurosurgeon. On looking to the MIR he informed that he kid has Frontal lob development is low and on EEG, he was diagnosied as mild epilleptic. He was put on Eption (4ml twice a day) and Norma Brain (4ml twice a day).

After this until know he has not got any seizers, but his milestones has come down since than, he is not crawling, he has not got full neck control, he is not sitting or standing.

He is under physiotherapy from past 4 months, we have seen lot of improvement, but still his milestones are delayed.

He has a very good eyecontact, and socially he is very responsive, but he is not adding any strength to his backbone. Request if anyone can help us in understanding the behavior and help us in making him an normal baby. If you lookat him he is so sweet that it is very hard to belive that he is epileptic with delayed milestone.

Can anyone help me in providing information related to his development.

Hi

Thanks for the reply, he is very active, he readliy reaches for objects, and kicks his legs and moves his hand frequently. Only problem what I see you, he has no strength on his back, so that he is unalbe to sit by himsefl. He almost lifts himself half of his body and requires little support to sit with that he sits.

I am regularly taking him to Physotherapy, is there any way I can improve his strength. Is Normabrain a good medicine, what are its side effects. I am desparately trying hard to make him normal.

I am not sure what to do, whom to contact and how to proceed. I get advise from various corners, but going as per the Pediatrician and Neurosuergon information. Would it be advisable to get another opinion.

Hello.

Your son is having delayed development as a result of the seizures. A seizure is an episode of central nervous system dysfunction. The cortical areas and connections develop in the first year of life. Seizures may upset the development.

From here on, you will have to strictly monitor his development and growth. He will need to be taken to the pediatrician regularly. Please continue the Eptoin without a break.

I hope he recovers from this.

Regards
