Twitching - Very Scared! Please help!

A few weeks ago my brother-in-law was diagnosed with ALS. I have alot of health anxiety so I immedialtey htought I could have it also. There are so many reasons why this doesn't make sense but in my mind I am SO worried!

I have a pain in my right arm and my pinkie finger and ring finger were numb last week. I have a new baby and I carry her in her carseat over my forearm when we go places. She is about 17 pounds plus the carseat so my doc sent me to a chiropractor for a pinched nerve. Now, after a few visits to the chiro my pinkie and ring finger feel better.

Okay, so that makes sense but now I notice I also twitch. The twitching is noticable every couple hours when I am sitting still at the computer or nursing my baby. I have twitches mostly in my calves and thumb and index finger on both hands and twitches in my ankles and thighs sometimes. Usually it is calves and thumbs. I am a nervous wreck - I spend all day on the computer at work looking for symptoms of ALS. I am wondering if it starts with twitching or if that is a later symtom.

I have read that twithcing is okay as long as there is no muscle weakness. Okay, that makes sense but I used to work out before I had the baby and now i just lay around so I don't feel as strong as I did a year ago when I was running and weight training. I can still perform my day to day activites normally, I can pick up the baby and carseat and 10 bags of junk to carry out to the car so I don't think I have lost any muscle.

I am just scared - if someone could just reasure me that would be so wonderful! My brother-in-law also has trouble swallowing so now I am afraid I have problems swallowing too. If I eat a biscotti or dry granola bar I feel like my throat has a lump in it and I get more anxious. My thumb is twitching now again!

So scared - please respond!

Thanks!
Marianne

.....twitching outside of ur fears could be as simple as having ur vitamin and mineral levels.....low magnessium and/ or  potassium can cause the twitching. Have ur PC send u for labs.....and let him inform u of which suppliments u need and quanity.

stress can also do so many different things to our bodies, and with a new child, it could also be a source if ur issues.....try and relax...if u blink, the next time u look, ur child will be moving out!!...it goes so fast.....enjoy!  : )

Good luck
