Unknown illness, negative for Stroke, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis

What medical specialty could diagnose this?
What other disease could it be?

Symptoms:
Slurred speech, weakened limbs, high anxiety, hard to swallow food. Began November, 2006.

Negative Testing:  
January 2-6,2007  
Hospital stay in St. Louis Missouri could not find anything with MRI's.  
2 MRI's showed negative for stroke.  
Also blood work negative for Myasthenia Gravis or Multiple Sclerosis.
Hospital said too much time had past, and only suggested possible mini-stroke. Tests did NOT confirm any heart damage.  Only one small blood clot found in neck, but too small to do any surgery.

Eteson..Oh my I have having the sammmeee exact problems you are having i am not diabetic or anything..mine started in july with chest pains but everything came back ok lasted for 8 weeks then in dec i woke up with numbenss on my left side and it is still there i was hospitaized and released on this past fri something happened and now my speech is slurred all test mri everything came back negative..they released me without a diagnosis.they said maybe mini strokes or ms not sure but noone has a clue i have weakness on left side and walk with limp with i have the what i call spells..please let me know what they come up with with you and i will do the same this has been a long process and i have no clue what will happen next..

You should see a Neruologist if you have not, also, you should schedule an appt. at Cleveland / Mayo Clinics or the MDA clinic in your area to rule out any MDA's.

Sugar level good.  Slurried Speech steady. Hard to even suck through straw to drink liquids.

Insulin injections for couple of years now.  Test 2x daily.

I think you should see a rheumatologist as well as a neurologist. A number of rheum diseases can cause swallowing difficulties. I am not a dr. this is just advice based on my experiences. I am also undiagnosed and have intermittent swallowing problems and neuro. problems. I see both a rheum and neuro. Good Luck-don't give up!

Eteson = is your speech always slurred,  or does it come and go?    Slurred speech and appearing "drunk" is a classic sign of very very low blood sugar,  which happens when diabetics have irregular sugar ups and downs.

Have you just started taking this diabetes medicine?  Is it insulin injections?  Do you test your blood regularly?
