19yr old daughter had surgury to place a second codman programable vp shunt in her head approx 3mths ago .During surgury it was found that their was signifigant scar tissue present so tube end was placed lower into the pelvic area.
Has had sypmtoms of overdrainage and had pressure on shunt 1 increased to 140 last Wed.
However, yesterday she drew my attention to a lump that had appeared in the pelvic area. It was soft and sore to touch. If she pushed in on it there was kind of popping touch/feel. After this ocurrance there seemed to be a moderate improvement in her nausea and abdominal discomfort. We had a four hr drive home during which she spent most of her time semi prone (sleeping) Always tires and nauseous these days. The lump seems to disappear while lying down, but reappears when upright.
Question: Is it possible that there is a problem, ie blockage at the tube end causing her headaches, abdominal pain and almost constant nausea and that this lump is somehow accosiated?
She starts university in 1 month, so we're very anxious to get this solved.
Thank you
