My 13 year old daughter has been experiencing pain in her joints, mostly her knees and ankles, mild twitching and just overall not feeling her best. The rheumoto;ogist couldn't really find anything wrong and didn't know what her symptoms suggested. The pain does not stay in her knees or ankles, though. Sometimes, it's her back or shoulders or her feet or her hands. She says that sometimes her hands get tingly. She is on Concerta for ADHD and has been for about 2 years. It seems to help her focus, but this twitching has started in her body about 3-4 months ago and it comes and goes. She had a huge growth spurt last summer, growing 4 inches in about 5 months and gaining about 30 lbs! The rheumotologist thought the pain in her joints and muscles might be related to that. He took blood and said it was all normal except for being a bit low in Vitamin D and calcium. She spends alot of time on her computer, as well. I was wondering if these things could be related to the growth spurt or sitting at her computer and/or if the twithching might be a side effect of the Concerta? I'm not sure what kind of doctor I need to take her to or if I should be really concerned about this. She hasn't missed school in spite of this, but she does have a hard time when it comes time for her to get really physical and gets very sore after excersizing. I'm worried as I'm a widow and it's only the 2 of us, so I don't have any one to talk to about these things and I'm wondering if this is just "growing pains" or if it's something I need to be more concerned about and what kind of doctor should we see?
