Muscle cramps

I have had peripheral neuropathy for 4 years. I take a number of pain medicines . The last couple of months my leg calves and thigh muscles are tight and seem like they are cramping . If i sit for more than a few minutes it really starts to hurt . could this be from the neuropathy ? I have not seen my neurologist in a few months , any suggestions on any treatments . It seems to be getting worse.  Chazie

Muscle cramps can be caused by peripheral neuropathy. This is due to damage to motor neurons that transmit signals to your muscles. The damage can make the motor neurons more excitable. When extra signals are sent to your muscles they can twitch and even cramp. I hope you have followed up with your doctor because there are medicines that can reduce this type of cramp. I have small fiber neuropathy and it causes all kinds of weird and sometimes painful symptoms including cramps and burning skin. Best of luck to you.
