concussion

Last Sunday I was running around the lake and slipped on ice - landed on the back of my head.  I was taken to the hospital and they kept me for 30 hours.  They did a ct scan and said no skull fracture, but I had the equivalent of a basebal on the back of my head and they said that I had the same amount of swelling on the inside.   So a concussion and something about a hemotoma (sp?) Anyway, I can't really hear out of my left ear and I can't smell/taste anything.  I think that I can tell sour, but not so sure about sweet.  I am wondering how temporary this could be due to swelling?  The Neurologist looked at me and said I need to see him in a week.   I'm a little nervous about this and just wanted to know the general odds or percentages when you have a concussion and your smell/taste and hearing come back.  Thank you.

i just reread your post and you said they said you had a hematoma as well? if there was that much swelling i think that would require surgery to remove the blood clot right? what else did the doctors say ?

symptoms of a concussion can last days, weeks or longer....you never know.  and these symptoms you are experiencing now could go away and you could end up with diff symptoms some time after.  Im not a doctor but  am speaking through experience.  what meds did they prescribe you?
