Hello again,

I understand where you are coming from. I know all about pain. I had my surgery in 08/07 and mine is not workers comp related.  My surgery was 6 months ago and I am not recovered yet and dont know if I will ever be but I keep my head up. Stay positive. Have you considered seeing a neurosurgeon? I have seen 2 different neurologists and my surgeon. I now have to see a rheumatologist.  What is a syrinx? And why didnt they operate on that disk C5-C6. Was it there before the operation? What state do you live in?  They have county hospitals everywhere.? I would go somewhere and get another opinion preferrably from a neurosurgeon? I also would suggest getting a copy of all your medical records and xrays and MRI"s and keeping those for your records.? LEt me know how it goes..

i am in constant pain .... i had anterior fusion at c3/4 it had herniated straight back into my spinal cord .  i will add my history to this message . i am working hard to figure out what is causing all of my problems since i technically do not have a doctor at this moment . read below

ok here is my story , i was injured at work on 8/2/07 neck and shoulder.was told i had a sprained shoulder , never got better , then ac joint , then rotator cuff ,kept telling them the neck hurt they ignored me . finally got mri of shoulder and neck . had c3/4 herniation straight back into spinal cord . spinal cord was 75% pinched . had anterior fusion on 10/29/07 . have had severe pain ever since . my ortho spine specialist (who just got out of residency in july 07) tells me he is a good doctor did what he was supposed to do and there was no reason for me to be acting like this . i insisted on more test, this week i went for mri,ct,emg . i had films for mri,but not report. i an clearly see c5/+6 bulging into the fluid area of cord, but not into dark area as c3/4 , and there is a white area in the central cord part at c5/6 level . the neurologist that did my emg tells me that there is a problem with c5/6 (big surprise),and that i have severe carpal tunnel in my hands(c5/6 maybe ?) while waiting to see doc today i dug out my old mri before surgery . it states c5/6 have mild bulge(hmmmm),and a syrinx of 1 cm in central cord.did not know what this was so i looked it up(wish i hadn't done that i was better off not knowing)
well, today i asked him why i was never told this , he thinks for a moment and then says he disagrees with the finding(but,he put on my release papers today that i have a syrinx)(remember i have the films, and not as dumb as he thinks) i told him what the neuro said and once again he says he disagrees(this neuro has about 30rs experience he has none) i am in severe pain all the time, occipital headache, arm pain, shoulder pain, and for some reason i can't keep my balance i have fallen several times over the past few weeks . he has released me as mmi,and no restrictions at work(i do heavy repetative labor for 8to 12 hours per day)i have requested a 2nd opinion but don't know when i will get it .
my question is has anyone else on here experienced a syrinx and how is it ?
i am very scared to go to work , but my lawyer says i have to or i will be held responsible for future med bills, and i will not have a case .i can't do 15 minutes of house work . can someone talk to me ? what would you do ? i don't even have a dr for this now,i guess if i am in pain i'll go to the er until i get a new doc .

Hi,

I am just curious. What type of surgery did you have? I had ACDF surgery 6 months ago and it hasnt been a good road of recovery.  Are you having any pain?
