What do you think?

I am a 43 year old female.

PMH/PSH: ex smoker, cogenital blebs, PTX, tension PTX, bilateral Vats with bil. apical resection 2000 and right thoracotomy with bleb resection 2007, AV Node ablation x2, Hyperthyroidism 2007 (subclinical at this time)

October 2007 had MRI

clinical history: balance difficulty, ataxia

Findings:
ventricular system midline and normal in size and configuration.  Small nodular areas of abnormal hyperintense signal are seen bilaterally in the frontal and parietal white matter on FLAIR and T2 weighted imaging.  These areas of abnormal signal measure approximately 3-5 mm in size.  Small lesions are seen bilaterally in the high frontal region.  There is a small abnormality within the anterior aspect of the left centrum semiovale and a similar small abnormality in the white matter at the posterior margin of the posterior body of the right lateral ventricle.  No discrete lesions within the corpus callosum or extending perpendicular to the superior aspect of the lateral ventricles is seen.  No hemorrhage or abnormal vasculature is seen.  The posterior fossa structures are normal.  The orbits, sinuses and craniovertebral junction are normal.

Impression:
1.  Several small bilateral supraantentorial white matter T2 hyperintensities, varying in size from 3-5 mm.  No mass effects or posterior fossa lesions are seen.

2. Close clinical correlation is advised.  This is a non-specific finding in a patient this age, likely the sequela of previous inflammatory, traumatic or ischemic disease.  Dymyelating disease should be considered.
3.  No acute infarct, mass or hemorrhage.

My vision has been affected lately, blurry.
I do have like a small droop of the right eyelid not always prominent.
Involuntary muscle twitching (doesnt last long) right thigh, sometimes above eyelid.
Lost for certain words when in a conversation, cant think of names, or examples.  Weird.
Onset of cyanosis of fingers during cold.

Please any feedback would be appreciated.

I understand this is a patient to patient forum.  I appreciate your response Carol.  Im following up with my Neurologist within two weeks.  Just completed my Thyroid Uptake and Scan yesterday.

I suppose I have to wait and see right?

This is a patient to patient support forum.

"Onset of cyanosis of fingers during cold."   This may be Raynaud's Syndrome.

"Involuntary muscle twitching."  This may be due to low magnesium.  Supplement with magnesium glycinate or taurinate.

Inability to think of certain words, or names.  Also known as difficulty with word finding.
Hah, when I had fibromyalgia, we called this "fibro fog."  Then when I found out that Lyme Disease caused the EXACT same symptoms as fibromyalgia and fibro fog, I got tested at Igenex Lab and showed positive for Lyme.  So now it's cognitive dysfunction, or "Lyme brain."  Possible cause is reduced blood flow to the brain, due to inflammation caused by infection.

I don't know enough about MRI's to say much about your results.
The vision problems, balance difficulties, thyroid problems, muscle twitching, Raynaud's, and difficulty with word finding are all symptoms that may indicate infection with Borrelia burgdorferi, a tick borne infection.

The Canadian Lyme Foundation at  http://www.canlyme.com/  has good information.

Wishing you the best,
Carol

What I find most frustrating is that I have for the fourth time brought my question to the top and has been surpassed by everyone burying itself onto page 4.

Is there a reason why noone is responding to me?  Everyone else is getting a response?

Today I'm going to complete my Thyroid Uptake and Scan.  I took the radioactive iodine pill yesterday.  Somehow, I dont think my new symptoms has anything to do with my thyroid.  I do not have exopthalamos or any goiter.  One thing that is consistent is my right ear has pain in it.  Not like an infection though.  I also have problems swallowing too, always choking on food or fluid.  This is new.  On rare occasions, I have found myself urinating right where I stand and had no control over it.  Too many babies in my life?

Perhaps this is a part of aging...and its hard for me to except that.
